Cheesecake Factory, Bobby's Burger Palace to Open at Potomac Mills Mall
Construction is anticipated to begin later in May.
Virginia’s largest outlet mall, Potomac Mills, will soon get bigger.
The store announced it would be expanding its footprint with exterior, freestanding restaurants between the AMC Potomac Mills Movie Theater and Costco.
Restaurants joining the mall are The Cheesecake Factory and a Virginia first: a Bobby’s Burger Palace, which is a product of celebrity chef Bobby Flay.
This will be the first Cheesecake Factory in Prince William County. A third restaurant will be announced soon, the mall public relations department said.
“Bobby’s Burger Palace offers 10 signature burgers, made with Certified Angus Beef, ground turkey or chicken breast, and a wide variety of sides including beer battered onion rings, milkshakes and more,” mall management wrote in a press release.
The mall's management said a “sophisticated courtyard” would link the restaurants to a pedestrian-friendly pathway to the Potomac Mills physical structure.
“This much anticipated revitalization will feature earthy design treatments such as River stone and decorative wood,” the press release from Potomac Mills read. “New landscaping, lighting features and updated signage will contribute to its welcoming ambience. Construction is anticipated to begin later this month.”
“These exciting new developments meet shopper demand, while adding another dimension to Potomac Mills’ unique brand of shopping,” said Mike Sullivan, general manager of Potomac Mills, in the release. “Our impressive collection of new stores paired with these strong restaurants concepts and exterior enhancements will elevate our already celebrated shopping experience and be a strong catalyst to attract more local residents and visitors from around the world.”
Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th will be relocating during the summer, introducing local shoppers to its innovative "luxury in a loft" store design. The store will move to a new front location between the mall entrance and Costco. The novel layout has been well received and set a new standard in outlet shopping, management said.
Additional stores buybuy Baby and Christmas Tree Shops will be joining Neighborhood 5 in the mall during fall 2013.
The mall cut 750 commuter parking spots Feb. 14, 2011, in anticipation of these expansions.

Hate to be a buzzkill, but PWC needs to plan to accomodate the traffic this will cause. This Cheesecake Factory will draw folks from Fredericksburg and Springfield. We are already jammed from Lorton to Stafford. Glad to see better amenities, (Lord knows we have NOTHING right now..thanks for the gigantic fabric store Potomac Mills...good job) But local bumper to bumper traffic every weekend is a big price to pay for a slice of cheesecake....just sayin

A whole lot of great things coming down the pipeline for Woodbridge. This news, Potomac Town Center coming to fruition, wartime museum, supposedly another development across from Stonebridge (across from the high school) and what about the possibility Potomac Nationals new stadium in Woodbridge.
Sounds like Woodbridge is changing to NewBridge

Lauren,
Is there still a conversational piece coming? Do you have any other insight on possible or future projects in the Woodbridge area? Also, have you heard anything about a possible development off Neabsco and Dale Blvd?
Sorry for any typos and misunderstanding in my comments throughout the day. I'm always typing from my phone.

Hi Kev. C,
We had so much news today that I bumped it to tomorrow because I didn't it want it to be lost in the feed. No, I haven't heard anything about Neabsco & Dale Blvd. but I will keep my ear to the ground. Any tips are appreciated, I'm only one person!

I saw them putting down the fencing yesterday morning while waiting at the slug lines. I've been to the DC location of BBP and the burgers are pretty decent. It should be interesting to see how this new pedestrian friendly link will be implemented to the main mall.

I agree. As an external building, it will be interesting to see this courtyard and pedestrian walk and how it connects the buildings. I'm actually sised about this.

Would love to see the site plan if they have a picture. Don't understand why they want to put buy buy baby and the christmas store, but besides that I think PWC needs a new change. This is really good, I still think we need a COSI around Stone ridge Town Center. No offense but Prince William doesn't look as classy and inviting as Fairfax. I live in woodbridge and I must say I love the area, it's just not catching that much attention.

Tanya,
I may be wrong but I think the Christmas Tree Stores and Buy Buy Baby will be in the mall (occupying a vacant spot). I'm not sure if it's part of the new structure. Well let's atleast hope so. But Buy Buy Baby in itself is a really huge store. So I could see this being part of the seperate structure.
Cost would be nice in Stonebridge. I would rather see a Potbelly. I would also love to see a Coastal Flats. It I think the big space for restaurants may be signed already.
Is it a bad thing that we (Woodbridge residents) not catching much attention? I prefer not to but have all the upgrades that are in the pipeline. Just my opinion. :)

I understand what your saying Kev. It's just I feel we have so many children stores in the mall already. Then you have other brand stores that carry children. I don't think it's bad that we aren't really catching much attention, but if we grow we get profits right? Don't know if that is sounding childish, it's just the traffic would sux. I def agree with Potbelly and Coastal Flats. Great thought!!! It's sometimes, it sucks to drive 30-40 to different town centers when we are growing our own and it would be nice that if it was around the corner. Besides all of that great work on the upcoming of WOODBRIDGE..WOOHOO :)

I could not say enough good things about Bobby's Burger Palace. We have one up here in Long Island, New York. Great food! I would recommend everyone give it a try.

Karen,
A portion of Stonebridge at Potomac Town Center is already open. But, the larger portion with most of the retail shops will be opening in October 2012.

PWC needs to continue to increase the number of quality stores and restaurants so that residents don't have to drive to other counties. Not everyone is interested in Potomac Mills shopping in hopes to find a nice suit or something even from the current year. It's so frustrating. There is a demand from the PWC residents. Why do we continue to play second fiddle to Fairfax County. I love the diversity of PWC just not the shopping and restaurant choices when I want to go out for something nice.
