Dumfries Man Fires Shots into Neighbor's Home After Burglary

Terence Gene Huskey, 31, of Dumfries was charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling and reckless handling of a firearm.

Under the belief that a neighbor had burglarized his home, Dumfries man took the law into his own hands by firing several shots into the neighbor's home, Prince William County Police said.

Terence Gene Huskey, 31, of Taconic Circle in Dumfries was charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling and reckless handling of a firearm.

The incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. Friday, when police responded to the shooting. Officers learned of the burglary allegations at the scene on the 16200 block of Taconic Circle. Huskey's front door had been forced open between 11 p.m. the night before and 3:30 a.m. Electronics worth $1,400 and other property were reported missing.

Huskey believed his neighbor had committed the burglary and so he fired several rounds into the neighbor's home, police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok said. No one reported any injuries and everyone involved has been identified.

The burglary is still under investigation. A gaming console, two TVs and other property were missing from the home.

Huskey's court date is set for Jan. 29. He was held on a $5,000 secured bond.

I believe in taking some action when the suspect is IN FRONT of you, not the next day. Let PWCPD do their job.
