Finding outdoor (and indoor) fun on the PWC Parks website
Are you new to the area, or just need some new ideas for fun? The PWC Park Authority Website is a great resource for finding outdoor and even indoor fun
Springtime is a great time to shake off unhealthy habits and pick up a few healthy ones. Want to find some active fun in your neighborhood or closeby? Try the Prince William County Park Authority website to discover new places and activities to enjoy. Their site makes it easy to find parks, classes and special events for just about everyone.
Let's explore a bit. Say you live in the 22192 zip code and want to find tennis courts within five miles of your home. Go to the Park Finder section of the site. Enter your zip, choose a five-mile radius and then use the drop down menu to choose Tennis Courts and you will receive results that show four nearby parks that have tennis courts available: Riverbend Park, Veteran's Memorial Regional Park, Occoquan Park, and Birchdale Recreation Center.
Now, let's think about getting ready for a new year of golf. You want to get in tip top condition so that you can shave a stroke or two off your game, or at least avoid getting injured as you try to impress. You can browse classes without registering with the WebTrac system. Just start here and choose Fitness/ Aerobics. Scroll down and you can see golf exer/tech. Without logging in you can't gain any information by clicking on the class number, but there are a series of icons on the right of the class name. The house shows you that the class is offered at the Chinn Aquatics & Fitness Center, click the $ to see that the one-time class is $25, the # shows how many spaces are registered and how many remain and the ? gives the basic course description. And when you are ready to get into the swing of things, you can use the website to book a tee time at any of the county's public golf courses.
You can search for summer camps (full-day and part-time), find sports leagues for kids and adults, find a volunteer opportunity, look for employment, and check out the array of watery fun to look forward to at the pools and water parks around the county. Plan a family picnic or learn about performances in the parks. Whether you have young kids to get moving or are looking for a peaceful park trail along the Potomac, there are lots of options. Be sure to browse the Leisure Magazine to see the season's line-up of activities.
