Last Chance: Oregon Artist Hosts Weekend Workshop in Occoquan

Whitney Ferré of Creatively Fit hosted an owl-themed painting workshop geared towards beginner artists on Saturday. She'll host another workshop for parents and kids this afternoon from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Oregon artist Whitney Ferré brought her Creatively Fit program to Occoquan this weekend with a workshop on painting owls.

Owls symbolize inner light, and Ferré thought they were perfect representations of the artist's process of finding oneself.

Those who attended the Saturday workshop got to create owls with acrylic paint, and other materials such as patterned paper, fabric, and gold leaf.

The workshop is particularly suited to beginner painters, and Ferré is hosting another workshop today for parents and children at the Mill Street Studio at 416 Mill Street in Occoquan. It will run from 3 to 4:30 p.m., and Ferré said yesterday that there were still spots available.

Kathy Strauss of Lake Ridge is a local Creatively Fit coach. She can be contacted at kathy@imagewrks.net or 703-492-8215.
