One-Stop Shop for Local Healthcare
Kathy Bentz of Greater Prince William Health Center offers a perspective on local care.
Your toddler has a fever and a cough.
Your husband's toothache is back…again. You have been trying for a while and think you might finally be pregnant.
Your Mom seems really depressed since her diagnosis with diabetes.
If that's what you woke up to this morning, you probably dread the idea of making multiple appointments with different doctors at several locations. The Greater Prince William Community Health Center offers a unique approach as a one-stop "medical home" for Prince William area residents.
A non-profit 501(c) (3) organization, the Health Center provides primary care, prenatal services, dentistry and counseling in a single location off the Prince William Parkway near Old Bridge Road. The Health Center serves patients of all ages; accepts all private insurance, Medicaid and Medicare; and offers discounted pricing for those without insurance.
At the Health Center, you can bring your sick toddler to visit our physicians, your cranky husband to deal with his toothache, your mother to address her depression and manage her diabetes, and you can get that pregnancy test. You can schedule appointments in advance or take advantage of walk-in service.
The Health Center opened several years ago to provide primary care for local residents. In the past year, the Health Center added three new practices – prenatal, dental and behavioral health care – and doubled the Woodbridge facility to 15,000 square feet. As the only federally qualified health center in our area, the Health Center offers equal access to services regardless of ability to pay, geographic location, culture, age, sex or religion.
So far this year, the Health Center has completed nearly 12,000 patient visits. Why would you want to make the Health Center your medical home?
- Doctor visits at the Health Center are only $45.
- The team includes board-certified doctors, nurse practitioners, a certified nurse midwife, clinical psychologist, dentists, patient advocates and support staff.
- Services include physicals, immunizations, sick visits, hospital follow-up, teeth cleanings, fillings, extractions, counseling, prenatal care, prescription medications, Medicaid eligibility and referrals.
- Patients enjoy free Wi-Fi, convenient hours, and caring, compassionate service at the Health Center offices.

- The Health Center uses electronic health records, making it easier to access your medical information at the Health Center and for referrals.
Special Community Programs
To make health care more accessible to everyone in the community, the Health Center offers special programs, including free education sessions.
- Buy one, get one free. On Wednesday afternoons in October and November, families get one child's flu shot for free with one paying, related adult. Flu shots are $24 and insurance co-payments are accepted.
- Learn about depression. At 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17, the Health Center is hosting a free Depression Screening and Information Session. Learn about the signs, triggers and treatment of depression in a free session open to the public.
- Watch for the Health Center Van in the community. The Health Center team will travel to local businesses and organizations to provide flu shots for groups of 25 or more. The van also travels to schools and events to provide health care screenings, immunizations and other services.
