Saturday at Woodbridge Senior High School, snare drums, marching band uniforms, xylophones and whistles filled the parking lot and football field for a day of competition. The day-long competition was a product of hours of work between the Woodbridge Band and Band Boosters parents, students and volunteers.
Judges for the performances came from all over Virginia, Prince William County and even Maryland. Woodbridge High School, the host, competed first thing Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m. Other area bands that competed include Stonewall Jackson and Osbourn Park high schools from Manassas, VA, Mount Vernon High School from Mount Vernon, VA, C.D. Hylton High School from Dale City, VA, Brenstville District High School, JEB Stuart High School, Loudon County High School, Forest Park High School, Annandale High School, Potomac and Battlefield Senior High Schools.
Battlefield, the only quintuple A band to compete on Saturday, won the overall competition. But no team went home empty-handed.
Awards were given out to the following categories: First, Second and Third Place Awards in each class, First Place Awards for Best Music, Marching, General Effect,
Color Guard and Percussion as well as the Grand Champion for the overall invitational.
