Survey Estimates 1 in 5 People Pee in Pool

The community pool may not be as clean as you thought.

Gross.

According to a new survey, reported by WTOP.com, one of five people in a swimming pool urinates in it.

The Water Quality and Health Council conducted the survey, which also found that seven in 10 people don’t shower before entering the pool, bringing outside germs with them into the pool.

While chlorine does kill germs, it should not be a cure-all for bathing.

The Centers for Disease control website has pool and hot tub safety tips, including instructions for using pool test strips for pH balance at home.

Area pools opened in Prince William County opened May 26.

Here's a list of pools in our area:

Well, that was pretty disgusting, thanks! :-)
Is there a web site that tracks unsatisfactory pool data like the restaurants that fail inspection?

Not that I'm aware of, Connie. But I'll look into it!
