Vision for Vacancies: Bloom in Noblewood Plaza

What should go in the former Bloom location?

There's a new open space in Woodbridge. A portion of the 42,334 sqaure-foot Prince William Commons strip mall at 14055 Noblewood Plz. is closed.

It used to be the location of one of several Bloom grocery stores until the company made the decision to retire the brand, close underperforming stores and bring back Food Lion

Its neighbors are Life Style Hair Studio, Golden Cleaners, Youth Sport Gymnastics and My Nails. Big box discount store BJ's Wholesale Club is across the shopping center parking lot.

Rite Aid or Walgreen, since the closest Drug store is CVS on Dale Blvd, this would be great for this area and not out of the way

First of all the location is horrible. Who is going to go through all the traffic unless the store is a Super Wal-Mart which is exactly what this building should be. It is certainly big enough. We don't need anymore nail salons after the report on 60 Minutes of all the diseases anyone can catch from nail salons. In Virginia, nail salons are not monitored by any health standards which is why 95% are owned by foreigners.

We sure as heck do not need Another Walmart LOL, I remember watching 60 minutes that did the report on the Nail Salons, there are also Nails tech's in Department stores as well, like JC PENNY's , Saks, Neimans, and they have been doing nails for many many years way before the small shops even thought about starting a business, Nothing is safe anymore , just like going into a store trying on clothes, we dont know the person that tried on before us , but there is already a nail salon over there, that shopping center is busy with cars entering and exiting , since we have Bj's , MacDonalds, and other stores there, but if we travel to Potomac mills , we can make to Noblewood, just be safe

Roller Rink would be great since we have the only 1 in Stafford , but for this location it would be tons of cars, and the question would be , when would it be open ? I grew up in DC and we had a skating rink off 16th street, a huge arena, it would open on Wednesday nights , fridays, sat and sun, now thats a great work out

What a SUPER idea! A sport facility that does not eliminate any age category.

Actually, that should be McCalister's..spelling correction. Another option is for LA Fitness to buy out all of those other stores and make one massive gym, complete with indoor and outdoor tennis courts.

I like the Trader Joe's idea. Better yet, what about Mom's? It's a new organic market that's popping up in NOVA. There's one in Herndon and I believe one in Springfield. Other options would be DSW, World Market, Off Broadway Shoes. None of these are in Woodbridge.

Marvel Comics SUPER STORE!!!! To buy Marvel Mechandise and a ARCADE to play Marvel games, as well as a place to host parties and eat. It would make for a great place for Father's and sons to really hang out talk make friends and the BONDING would last a life time.

( I am not disrespecting the Girls, there are plenty of things in Woodbridge for Girls. I am thinking about cultivating the boys minds without distractions to be responsible, law abiding, respectful citizens which is what Marvel teaches respect for HUMANITY. Some where along the way that has been erroded.)

Oh, I didn't know DSW was already in the works. Thanks for the update. I reside in Manassas and usually have to go to Gainesville to shop DSW, unless I shop one of the other locations near work.

We need an organic grocer in this area. Some venue to find gluten free food at reasonable prices. Currently the best place is Wegmann's, and it is out of the way and a challenge to get to.

Trader Joes would be amazing, but I think it would do better over near Wegmans. I also think a Hobby Lobby would be awesome, and they generally like to take over spaces from other companies that have gone out! Whatever it is, I would love for it to be something fun and unique!

I could go with the Trader Joe's idea, that is fine and the alternate choice in foods would definetly cause the other Markets in the area to look at their shelves and compete.

I still stand by the Marvel Superhero Store as well as a sort of Chuckie Cheese meets Dave & Busters. By the response of people seeing the Avengers there is a market and place for this. Plus it will bring Children of all Ages and Parents together without excluding anyone.

AND YES there are some GIRLS that do read and like COMICS!!! Not as many as Boys but there are some and maybe in the right place with parents we can use this as a vehicle of how we want our children to get together and act RESPONSIBLY having RESPECTFUL FUN.

There is a comic book store in Woodbridge called Painted Visions. It's located at 3065 Golansky Boulevard Woodbridge, VA 22192.

I miss the dale city roller rink, so that would be great. I also think a trader joe's or an outdoor store like eastern mountain sports. Dick's is nice but a real outdoor world or granger mountain or EMS.

How about a Dollar General ? the 1 that was located in Marumsco plaza shut down, most of the employee's went to the General Dollar when it was openeded off Liberia in Manassas, all Woodbridge has is Dollar Tree, and family dollar, The Dollar tree In Manassas is Huge , more Items then the Dollar Tree in Woodbridge near potomac mills and off Rt 1 going towards Dumfries, There is a Dollar General in Triangle , but not 1 of my favorites

There are some great suggestions, here! Does anyone know why Van's skate park closed? Was the rent just too expensive? I see so many kids with no place to ride their boards and practice their stunts, but I guess you'd need a two story building for that.
It does seem a good spot for some indoor sport activity.
I liked the suggestion for a senior center, too, as there is only one in Woodbridge and another in Manassas. Might be handy for the seniors at River Run across the street. (If they could get over there in one piece!)

Connie,
According to this WaPo article from 2005, Vans closed at Potomac Mills due to competition from public skate parks. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A39801-2004Dec31.html

A senior center would be a great suggestion, as it is a *bit* more central to the county.

dale city is for kids to seniors> unfortunately every retailer here has to pass on their expenses to the citizens. went to a movie matinee for the first time in years with grandchildren and cost nearly $50.00.
how is that dale city alliance going?

I think keeping it at a grocery is great. Bring one of those asian markets in. Fairfax has a ton. The place is so diverse and Global Foods is the one international market, why not have another one. At least something different besides global.

that space should be used for the kids of the community which currently we dont have in this area. A skating rink some type of activity for the kids. we have enough stores in the area. Traffic is bad enough
