In the letter written by Principal David Huckestein, parents were informed that students will be provided with the opportunity to take place in counseling and can receive help from the crisis response team.
Huckestein's letter also asked that parents pay attention to their child's emotional needs during the next few weeks.
Students are encouraged to talk with parents about the feelings concerning life and death; parents are warned to watch out for signs of difficulty including prolonged sadness, withdrawal from social contacts, a change in eating or sleeping habits, or other behaviors unusual for their child.
Huckestein also recommended that parents accompany their child to the funeral or memorial service the child expresses an interest.
This is the third teen suicide in Prince William County.

This is very sad. What is with the rash of teen suicides lately? When I attended WSHS back in the '90s we didn't have this problem. I didn't know Kirsten Alder, however I do know her mother. Her funeral will be this Saturday
