Chance of Snow In Virginia … Yes, Really
Rain in the forecast, with a sharp drop in temperatures, puts snowflakes back in play — two weeks into April, according to the National Weather Service.
After a horrible, miserable winter, one would have hoped temperatures in the 70s would suggest that snow was far behind us.
Not so, says the National Weather Service. In northern Virginia, temperatures are expected to drop Tuesday, just in time for a strong storm moving through the area.
Precipitation and cold temperatures are a recipe for, well, the opposite of a sunny spring break.
Showers are expected to begin overnight, with thunderstorms possible Tuesday morning. Temperatures will drop sharply Tuesday night to near or at freezing.
Snowflakes are possible near the end of the storm Tuesday night, according to the National Weather Service.
The rain and the threat of snow will leave by Wednesday morning, but temperatures aren't going to reach 60 degrees until the weekend.
