Government Shutdown Reroutes Warrior Ride Bikers to Occoquan Regional Park

Darrel and Roseann Mooney biked across the country to raise money and awareness to help veterans with PTSD, TBI and service injuries.

After stopping in Occoquan this weekend, CAUSE Warrior Ride bikers Darrel and Roseann Mooney planned to finish their cross-country ride at the National Mall.

Instead, because the government shutdown closed the National Mall, the Mooneys had to move the finish line to Occoquan Regional Park, WJLA.com reported.

“We were expected to end at the Washington Mall obviously. We're from the west, and that sounded like a real exciting place to end,” Roseann Mooney told WJLA.com.

Sponsored by Comfort for America's Uniformed Services (CAUSE), Army veterans Darrel and Roseann Mooney biked from Washington State on a tandem to raise awareness for PTSD, TBI and service injuries. Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta and other cyclists accompanied the Mooneys on the last 16 miles of their trip.
