High Wind Warning in Effect

Thunderstorms have passed but wind remains.

Although the rain and thunderstorms have mostly left the Prince William County area, high winds are expected to stick around until this evening.

The National Weather Service said that there could be gusts of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts around 60 miles per hour until 7 p.m. NWS also said there is a possibility of downed trees and power lines as a result of the wind.

Dominion Virginia Power is currently reporting that 2,215 of its Northern Virginia customers are without power. NOVEC Power reports that 1,608 Prince William County customers are without power. If you see a downed wire, both companies insist that you treat it like a live wire, do not approach within 10 feet of it.
