Prince William County Closures and Cancellations Continue Tuesday

Stay home today if you can. This article will be updated as we receive more information.

Update, Oct. 30:

Prince William Health District locations will be closed tomorrow. Potomac Mills mall will open at noon today. PRTC buses will not be running Tuesday.

The closures continue in Prince William County tomorrow, according to a release from Jason Grant, PWC's communications director. 

The courts will be closed, as well as all the schools. The Senior Day Program and Senior Centers will also be closed.

County government offices will continue to operate on an unscheduled leave basis, with employees who cannot commute safely staying home. 

It has not yet been announced whether absentee voting locations.

Update 3:28 p.m.: 

Prince William County government is on unscheduled leave tomorrow. 

The Landfill remains open as long as it can operate safely.

"Trash companies are private entities that operate in the County," said an update from county communication director Jason Grant. "Therefore, it is up to the individual trash hauler whether or not they will pick up due to safety issues related to weather. It’s best to check with individual trash haulers."

Update 3:13 p.m.: 

Prince William County Schools will be closed Tuesday.

Northern Virginia Community College campuses and administrative offices will remain closed through noon on Tuesday. A decision about Tuesday afternoon will be made by 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning. 

Update, 11:27 a.m.:

Shelters: 

Prince William County will open two shelters at noon today. The Dr. A. J. Ferlazzo Building at 15941 Donald Curtis Drive in Woodbridge and Stonewall Jackson High School at 8820 Rixlew Lane in Manassas will both welcome those who need a place to stay.

Those with pets are welcome to stay at the Ferlazzo shelter, and those with pets who cannot go to the Ferlazzo shelter can take their pets to the Animal Shelter. Be advised that there is limited space at the Animal Shelter. 

County activity, voting:  

Absentee voting locations will close at 3 p.m. this afternoon. Libraries will close at 5 p.m. PWC government is still open with the unscheduled leave policy. The courts are now closing at 1 p.m. The Prince William Health District is closed.

If you were planning to travel north by train, Amtrak's Northeast Corridor Services are canceled for today

VRE has canceled all service for today. 

PRTC has canceled all service for today

All Metrorail, Metrobus, and MetroAccess service has been shut down for today

Schools: 

All Prince William County Schools are closed today. All other school-related activities are also canceled. Employees should operate under Code Red.

County Offices:

All county offices are open, but the unscheduled leave policy is in effect for today. Any employees may take unscheduled leave if it is unsafe to go to work. 

The Woodbridge Senior Day Program and the Senior Centers in Woodbridge and Manassas are closed today.
