Occoquan Receives Grant For Bicycle Racks

The town will install 12 bike racks.

By Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta

I am pleased to announce that with the approval of the Occoquan Town Council, the 501(c)(3)Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition has applied for and received a grant from the Transurban and Fluor 95 Express Lanes Community Grant Program to purchase and install 12 bicycle racks in the Town of Occoquan.

The racks will be powder-coated, ground-mounted, extended "U" bike racks with lean bars and grout covers -- a configuration recommended by the Association of Pedestrian and Bicycle Professionals -- and will support 24 bicycles.  This is another step forward in enhancing and promoting Occoquan's status as a trail hub and a destination for healthy outdoor recreation.
