Recall: Cosco and Safety 1st Car Seat Models

Seats were sold without a base and do not meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and Regulations.

Dorel Juvenile Group has issued a voluntary recall of certain Cosco and Safety 1st car seats. Affected models are IC123 FSM Comfy Carry Infant Child Restraint and IC124 FSM OnBoard 35 Infant Child Restraint, which were manufactured from May 1, 2011 through April 25, 2012.

According to the recall, affected seats were sold without a base, which fails to provide thelower anchors and tethers for children (LATCH) attachment assembly as required by Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and Regulations 213.

"These car seats can be installed without the base using the vehicle seat belt," said the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue. "However, Dorel is conducting this recall because the seat may be more difficult to install without the LATCH system which could potentially result in an improperly installed child restraint."

Consumers may contact Dorel Juvenile Group at 1-877-416-8111
or infantlatchrecall@djgusa.com for more information about
this recall.
