Dexter is only three months old, but his leg is fractured in four places.

That's because last Thursday, the tiny pup was thrown off an apartment balcony—and the Prince William Humane Society could use some donations to offset the cost of his $2,600 surgery. He's now wearing a cast as he recovers. No charges have been filed in the case, according to Prince William County Police. Animal control is continuing to investigate and working to identify a suspect.

To help Dexter, and other animals like him, donate to the Society's Poor Animals Welfare and Surgical (PAWS) Fund

Very sad. Glad it was a pup, however, who may recover. My dog and I were in a car accident, due to some other crazy drivers, and the dog lost his leg. But he and I have recovered, of course after considerable expense. I hope the puppy in this story has a full recovery.

Throw the perp off the balcony, see how it goes.

Someone high on 'meth' or some other illicit drug. You have to be to torture an animal in such a vicious way! I'm sure its not an active aggressive investigation. How many balcony's can this one place have where the poor thing was thrown from? C'mon!

The link in the story to donate does not work. So I don't know how to access it.

Yes John, but this is not just some ordinary accident like breaking a leg in a car accident, which by the way i'm glad you and the pooch are doing better, but instead this is the work of an evil mastermind who clearly has animal murder on his/her mind. I wish it was the case of an accident it would make this easier to stomach. To know someone lives and breaths among us with such cruel intent infuriates me!
