This Week's Weather: From Soggy to Sunny

Rain should clear out by Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service.

If you're planning any outdoor activities this week, your best bet is Thursday and Friday, according to weather forecasters.

Monday's rain will stick around for about 48 hours, according to the National Weather Service. The forecast calls for a 100 percent chance of rain Monday, followed by a 90 percent chance of precipitation Monday night. Tuesday will bring even more showers with an 80 percent chance of heavy rain.

Tuesday night, dwindles to just a 40 percent chance of rain and Wednesday will dawn with just a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms with high temperatures heading up to 83 degrees. Muggy weather on Wednesday will give way to cooler temps the following day due to a cold front moving in, according to WJLA.

By Thursday and Friday, Northern Virginia will experience sunny skies and cooler temperatures, with highs hitting about 75 degrees. 

For the weekend, the Weather Channel predicts temperatures will rise a bit, hitting 78 degrees with just a few clouds and a 10 percent chance of rain.
