The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for much of the greater Washington area, including Prince William, Fairfax, Arlington and Loudoun counties in Northern Virginia. The cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Manassas and Manassas Park are also included.
A tornado watch means conditions exist that could produce a tornado. A tornado warning means a twister has been spotted.
The watch is in affect until 5 p.m. Monday.
The Capital Weather Gang reports a forecast that includes a 30 percent chance of two or more tornadoes hitting the region and a 20 percent chance of a large tornado.
Northern Virginia could see heavy rains and possible thunderstorms Monday afternoon thanks to a cold front moving into the area.
