What's That Noise? Quantico Issues Advisory

Marine Corps base alerts neighbors of three days of work that might get loud.

Neighbors of Marine Corps Base Quantico may hear an increase of noise from the base due to ground/aircraft training and range clearance, according to a release.

Time and dates for the training and work include:

  • Friday, July 11 – Demolitions are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Monday, July 14 – Demolitions are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Thursday, July 17 – Live fire is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

"Aircraft supporting training or support to other agencies from the Marine Corps Air Facility at Quantico can also generate noise," the release notes. "Additionally, atmospheric conditions can amplify aircraft noise volume and the distance sound travels."
