Are you interested in the art and business of photography?  This is a new Meetup group for progressive photographers in the Northern Virginia and the Washington DC Metropolitan area.  We formed in order to allow our Prince William County, Southern Fairfax County, and Stafford County Virginia photographer members to meet in a more geographically convenient location.  We meetup in Woodbridge, VA, closer to home and without all the traffic.  Please join us whether you are an avid/serious enthusiast, aspiring professional, or a professional.  We would love to meetup with you!

In a relatively short period, we attained almost 50 members, 25 attendees (50%) at our first event, and produced a 5-star rating!  PWPPA's next meeting attendance will exceed our first so RSVP for a seat!

EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Spring is the perfect season to promote your outdoor environmental portraiture or lifestyle photography. With the right lens and technique you can render gorgeous backgrounds that resemble fine art paintings. Whether you are a photographer for passion or profit, this lecture will teach you innovative and portable techniques for capturing stunning natural light and breath-taking composition in any situation. Philip will share a career of photography secrets with you... pulling highlights from his highly rated, upcoming workshops:

  • Children, from Smile to FinishTM with Adobe Lightroom® - Lifestyle Photography and Available Light
  • SHOW ME THE LIGHTTM Lifestyle Photography: A Modern Approach to Wedding Photojournalism and Photographing People

If you are an intermediate, advanced, or pro photographer, you will be able to utilize this cutting-edge approach to light and space to perfect your images.

"The course was one of the most beneficial I have ever taken. In a few hours I improved from taking average photos to taking professional-level photos. Phil took his time to make sure I understood some basic camera functions. He also demonstrated some essential equipment a wedding and event photographer needs to have. Course would be beneficial to both the amateur and professional photographer." -Charles Outlaw, Charles Photography

Moshe Zusman, my friend and colleague and now one of the most outstanding wedding photographers in Washington DC, wrote this on his blog after assisting me at one of my workshops, "Children, from Smile to FinishTM with Adobe Lightroom 2®"

On Sunday I participated as a helper for Philip Brasch's "Children, from Smile to FinishTM with Adobe Lightroom 2®" workshop. Philip is a good friend and an awesome photographer who specializes in portraiture and weddings. The workshop, which took place both in-class and outdoors at "Dolphin Beach" in Montclair, VA was a great opportunity for beginning as well as advanced photographers to learn some Lightroom tweaks, workflow tips and most importantly, capturing beautiful images with all natural light – which is Philip's specialty. Watching Philip work and interacting with the people he photographs is very inspiring. Four years ago I actually assisted Philip in a few weddings and what really intrigued me was his ability to work in any given lighting situation and maximizing the usage of available light.

I thank all 35 of you for RSVP'ing so far. Our attendance is HUGE! Keep up your 5-star feedback and the management team will continue to bring you the best speakers around! You guys are awesome and PWPPA rocks!

And, read the reviews -- You will surely learn from this lecture!!

Best!
Philip Brasch, President

PHILIP'S BIO

Philip Brasch's passion for photography began in his high school years when he purchased his first 35mm film camera, a Pentax ME.  10 years ago Philip developed photography as a profession by studying under and working for a few of the great wedding and portrait photographers on the East coast (including James Roy, Clay Blackmore, and Doug Gordon).  Influenced by their styles and techniques, he has developed a new genre of wedding, environmental, and existing light portrait photography now popularly known as Lifestyle Photography:  the use of the rules of traditional portrait lighting to maximize consistency in natural, existing light photography combined with the action of photojournalism.

His current endeavors include:
