The stores targeted reportedly include underperforming sites, as well as locations where leases are set to expire.

There are two area Blockbuster locations: the Lake Ridge Blockbuster at Dillingham Square and the Woodbridge Blockbuster on Jefferson Davis Highway. A Lake Ridge employee said that site currently isn't expected to close.

For decades, families would make weekly runs to the video store for entertainment. Now, many of the services that Blockbuster stores offer are provided through service station kiosks, mail delivery and online streaming.
