PWC Ranked Eighth Nationwide in Job Growth Rate From 2000 to 2011

Despite the effects of the recession, Prince William County's job growth rate is soaring. CNN Money has ranked PWC eighth nationwide for its job growth from 2000 to 2011. 

The job growth rate in that period was 48.6 percent. Last year, , but there was an 8 percent increase in the growth rate between 2010 and 2011, a release from Prince William County stated.

“Prince William County continues to be acknowledged as one of the nation’s best places to do business,” PWC BOCS Chairman Corey Stewart said in a prepared statement. “Businesses are increasingly aware of the opportunities for growth, the highly educated workforce and the business-friendly environment that Prince William County has to offer.”

CNN Money said that PWC offered "enticing perks to businesses." 

"Expedited permits for companies in "targeted" industries that promise high-paying jobs and capital investment is just one of the ways it rolls out the red carpet," the article read. 

CNN Money also cited PWC's competitive tax rates and its geographical location as a community close to the D.C. Beltway as factors in its success.

"Some 770 new jobs were announced last year, a nearly 14% increase from the previous year," the article continued.

The county's release noted that CNN Money has listed PWC in its job growth lists for four out of the past five years. Since first making the list, PWC has steadily climbed the rankings. 

"Prince William was named to CNN Money’s 'Best for Job Growth' list in 2008 at #23," the release stated. "Prince William was named to CNN Money’s 'Where the Jobs Are list' for 2010 and 2011 taking the #17 and #13 rankings respectively."
