VRE Reminds Rides of Inclement Weather Policy

Decision to use an "S" schedule is made by 4:30 a.m.

Virginia Rail Express reminded riders Tuesday of their plans for inclement weather this season.

From VRE:

"When there is a forecast for or presence of severe icy conditions or an accumulation of 8 or more inches of snow we may operate an "S" schedule.

For morning service, the decision to use the "S" schedule will be made by 4:30 a.m.

If a snow emergency takes place in the evening, we will operate a regular schedule. While government offices may shut down early and the first departing trains may be busiest, we, unfortunately, cannot adjust our times or consists. These early dismissals simply do not allow us enough notification time to make such equipment changes.

If you have questions about which trains operate on an "S" schedule, please visit our website at http://www.vre.org/service/schedule.htm."
