Be a Star!

Social media and video productions make you a star!

Most people know me as a full time volunteer. For years, I have been in the enviable position of being able to use my time to benefit great organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Prince William Trails and Streams Coalition and more recently, the Dale City Lions.

I often contribute via social media, like posting events for groups who are not familiar with that sort of communication. The Bel Air Woman’s Club hosts a fashion show as a fundraiser each year. They always have a successful event, but as with every group, we hope each year gets bigger and better. The problem with starting a new way of advertising is capturing an audience. Like so many long established groups, they do not have a web presence, so if you are a Facebook user, love fashions from Chico’s, and are ready to have a breath of spring to shed those dreary winter blues, this event on April 13 is just what you’re looking for! Click the flyer in photos for complete information.

More recently, I’ve become part of a delightful effort to help Bill Golden promote his 2013 campaign; “Jobs, Jobs, Jobs!” Bill is a pretty amazing guy. He is a former US Army Intelligence Analyst with a flair for languages and absolutely one of the nicest fellows you could ever meet. He has an abundance of energy, a quick mind and is interested in everything from the promotion of telecommuting to politics.

He administers over 180 websites to fill positions in critical fields all over the world. Boiled down, his company lists jobs, requiring specialized skills like this: IntelligenceCareers.com . He travels frequently to far flung places like Germany and Hawaii hosting career fairs to help fill some of the many positions he has listed.

Bill is full of great ideas and he is connected to the community as a long time soccer coach and he’s a member of the O.W.N. Optimists (Optimist Club of Occoquan, Woodbridge and Neabsco), so it’s no surprise he has managed to combine his love of high tech toys, service to community and promotion of his own business in one fell swoop!

Bill is producing a series of videos, titled “Nights at the Round Table”. This is a weekly cable spot, available at more than one of Bill’s sites, like PWCNews.US. I am fortunate to be able to host this show and we feature local voices with a message to share.

We currently have a list of over 170 topics, so there’s bound to be something you’d like to discuss!
There is no charge to you, and you are welcome to a little shameless self-promotion. (I think I’m engaged in that right now) We do ask that you discuss something great you do to benefit our PWC community.

Each recording session usually takes less than an hour to accomplish and Bill’s studio is conveniently located in the Ridgewood Center. We ask you to provide us a brief (one paragraph biography) and a few questions and answers you’d like to discuss. It’s fun, there’s no pressure and a couple of terrific young men, Tim Sluss and Josh Zuckerman, are on site to handle the recording and technical issues. Send us an email and we’ll get you on the schedule: RoundTable@PWCNews.us or just find me on Facebook !
