ACTS Homeless Shelter Closed For Emergency Repairs

A sprinkler system malfunctioned and caused water damage to the building.

The ACTS Emergency Homeless shelter was closed Monday night due to emergency repairs, ACTS spokesperson Rebekah McGee said in a prepared statement released today.

The shelter sustained severe water damage and needed to be closed that same night. It will remain closed until repairs have been completed.

"Staff pulled together throughout the night to find alternative temporary housing arrangements for the 22 residents," according to McGee's statement. "They did a great job ensuring that the families were re-housed and important items relocated to safe dry places."

The water damage was caused by a sprinkler system malfunction on an upper floor.

"At this time, we are not able to totally assess the damage or our long-term needs for donations," McGee said.
