Flash Flood Watch in Effect Tuesday Night

Warning lasts until 6 a.m. Wednesday

The National Weather Service has placed Prince William County under a flash flood watch in anticipation of overnight thunderstorms Tuesday night.

"Showers and thunderstorms will move into the extreme panhandle of West Virginia and Northern Virginia late this evening and overnight," reads the forecast on NWS' website. "Locally heavy downpours will be possible over the same locations that it recieved heavy rainfall on Monday night."

NWS said it would take less than inch or less of rainfall in an hour to produce flash flooding. A flash flood warning means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.
