Guests in Town for Inauguration Weekend? What to Do in Woodbridge

Where to go, what to do and where to eat in Woodbridge and Occoquan this weekend if you're hosting out-of-town guests for the 2013 Presidential Inauguration.

Do you have guests in town for Inauguration Weekend?

Chances are, your guests will want to do more than sit on your couch waiting for the second inauguration of President Barack Obama on Monday, Jan. 21. So, we’ve rounded up some things you can do right here in Woodbridge and Occoquan to keep your guests entertained and happy.

If your guests want to take in the Occoquan River, try the boat tours from Rivershore Charters. Tours offered every Saturday and Sunday from noon to one hour before dark. It's $12 for adults, $6 for kids 4 to 12, and free for kids younger than 4. If you and your guests have a hankering for something more active, go hiking in Prince William Forest Park.

For shopping, there's Potomac Mills Mall and the recently opened Potomac Town Center. If you'd rather support small businesses, come to Occoquan and visit Details, Glory Be, the Loft Gallery, Salt & Pepper Books, Willow Street Decor, the Golden Goose, Occoquan Antiques, and many more.

If you get hungry, try Joe's Pizza in Woodbridge. Joe's pizza was chosen for best submarine sandwich in Prince William County in our 2012 Readers' Choice contest. Follow that up with a cupcake at Confections, or some ice cream at Frostie Moose, each chosen for best of their category in the 2012 Readers' Choice contest. It's been a warm winter, after all. And don't forget about Occoquan: with delicious dining options such as Blue Arbor, the Garden Kitchen, Madigan's Waterfront, Cock & Bowl, and Bistro L'Hermitage, there's something for everyone. If you love these restaurants, don't forget to rate and review them using the links above.

The NFL playoffs continue Sunday afternoon and evening, and you can watch them at the Bungalow Alehouse or at another spot in Woodbridge.

There are more weekend events listed in our Woodbridge Patch events calendar—and you can add your own events to our calendar, too.

And check out our Woodbridge Inauguration Day survival guide!

Glory Days Grill in Smoketown Plaza in Woodbridge will be having an inauguration viewing party from 11:30 am to 11:00pm. We will be showing all the events of the day from open to close so you can come in and watch your favorite part on the big screen without having to deal with the traffic and Cold in DC. My favorite is the Ball at night and the swearing in. We have a special Presidential Burger and all of our classic burger meals are only $5.55. We will have raffles and door prizes, cakes and special treats for kids. It really will be a great day to come out with the family and witness this historic event. Oh, and the best part, our prize wheel. Everyone gets a spin and everyone is a winner! Free Entrees, Free Appetizers, Free Dessert. Everyone's a winner! We also will be doing a Jersey giveaway during tonight's Washington Capitals Game. As always $5 appetizers every day after 9pm.
