Lane Closures and Road Work on Interstate 95 Commence this Weekend

Nighttime and weekday work will contribute to widening project.

Virginia Megaprojects, including the Interstate 95 widening project, will be closing lanes of several major arteries in Woodbridge, Fairfax County and the Capital Beltway this weekend.

Two lanes will be closed for milling, paving and lane shift nighttime work between 9:30 p.m. - 5 a.m from Sunday - Tuesday on I-95 southbound from Accotink Creek to exit 161 to Richmond Highway.

Weekday work will occur between 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., pending inclement weather, as to not impede upon rush hour traffic.

I-95 northbound between exit 160 and Gordon Boulevard and one mile south of exit 166 for the Fairfax County Parkway will have one lane closed Monday - Thursday for bridge work.

Between the same exits, 166 and 160, a right lane will be closed on I-95 southbound on Monday - Thursday from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. for storm structure installation, wall panels and post work.

Other scheduled lane closures for major highways have been lifted in observance of the Sept. 6 Labor Day holiday from noon on Friday Sept. 3, until noon Tuesday, Sept. 7.
