PWC Rainfall Amounts to Over 12 Inches, More on the Way

Two mobile home parks evacuated

Prince William County has received over 12 inches of rain, said county communications director Jason Grant, and two more are on the way Thursday night.

Two mobile home parks have been evacuated. The mobile home parks are Holly Acres (approximately 70-100 residents), located off Route 1; and Marumsco Mobile Home park (approximately 50-60 residents) located across from Marumsco Plaza. Those displaced will be evacuated to a local “pet friendly” shelter located at Woodbridge High School (3001 Old Bridge Rod, Woodbridge, VA). The Red Cross and Department of Social Services is operating the shelter.

Creeks and waterways throughout the county are causing considerable road closures. Residents are encouraged to stay off the roads if possible. Drivers are reminded if they approach standing or flowing water in roadways to stop, turnaround, and find an alternative route. Prince William County Fire and Rescue have had to conduct multiple water rescues from people attempting to travel through water.
