Un-Trim-A-Tree Needs 1,500 More Donations Than Last Year

Program has 2,500 Prince William County children hoping for a toy this year.

If you donate to the Un-Trim-A-Tree program this year, at least one of 2,500 needy Prince William County children will receive two toys for the Christmas holiday.

Volunteer Prince William released a statement saying Un-Trim-A-Tree was in desperate need of more donors: It has 1,500 more children in need in 2012 than in 2011, with only three weeks until Christmas.

"Unlike Toys for Tots, the toys stay in our community," the release read. "No matter how many children you adopt, we are grateful for every donor."

Needy children are identified in their schools, and they can fill out a wish list of two toys with a combined value of up to $50.

"Once the list is compiled, Volunteer Prince William tries to mate the wish list with a donor," the release read.
