Telegraph Road Commuter Lot Ribbon Cutting Thursday

The $7.2 million project will ceremonially open phase one on Thursday.

Thursday, the Prince William Board of County Supervisors will celebrate phase one of the commuter park and ride lot with a ribbon cutting. 

The official cutting will happen at 11 a.m. at in 13254 Telegraph Rd. 

Last February,  announced that the additional commuter parking lot would be opening in Woodbridge to accomodate for the loss of some 700 parking spaces at the .

The lot was slated to cost $7.2 million, as projected by the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The Telegraph Road lot is a 600-parking space park-and-ride lot.

According to Prince William County Transportation Director Tom Blaser, the commuter lot was open but unused Tuesday morning. 

"We are installing additional signage today," Blaser wrote in an email. "I'm surprised nobody used it but as we have learned commuting patterns change very slowly."
