Coat Drive at Holiday Open House

Give back to the community.

By Occoquan Mayor Earnie Porta

At tonight's annual holiday open house and tree lighting in Occoquan (stores open until 8:00 p.m.), in addition to Salvation Army Red Kettle stations, there will also be other ways to give back to the community.  Tessa Yates will again be holding her used coat drive with barrels in front of town hall for donations, so bring your used, but suitable-for-wearing coats to benefit those less fortunate.

Additionally, the Occoquan Historical Society's Mill House Museum will also stay open until 8:00 p.m. during the open house this evening, offering a variety of gifts suitable for the holidays, whose sale helps the Society fulfill its mission.  Last, I would like to thank all the merchants who contributed bags, flyers, and other information promoting tonight's open house -- these have been distributed to 200 local residents outside Occoquan.

I hope everyone has a great time this evening and finds wonderful holiday gift choices among the wide variety our Occoquan merchants have to offer.
