What Color Should a Bride Wear the Second Time Around?

What Color Should a Bride Wear the Second Time Around?

What color should a bride wear the second time around?

Many years ago, society believed that a women getting remarried should not wear white because white symbolized purity and virginity.

Encore brides wanted to wear white for many reasons. Maybe she did not get the opportunity to wear that long flowing white dress the first time around, she could have eloped and did not get a chance to wear the white dress or maybe she didn’t have the money to buy the white gown. For whatever reason, she didn’t have the wedding of her dreams. Now, she as a second chance to have the wedding that she’s always wanted. Many encore brides feel that this is the
last time she is getting married and wants to do it right this time.

The white dress became popular with the wedding of Queen Victoria to Albert in 1840. Although many brides wore the color of their choice, the white dress became popular after Queen Victoria’s wedding. White material was expensive in those days, so only those who had money or access to money had the honor of wearing white.

Today, the color white does not represent purity or virginity, nor does it indicate your class or level of income.  Brides wear white because they choose to. Many encore brides try to stick with tradition as close as possible by wearing cream, off white, ivory or champagne because they feel guilty wearing white. That’s fine, as long that they feel good and look good. Also, encore brides are
wearing skirt suits, dresses, and “wedding pants suits." Yes, they are now making beautiful, beaded pant suits for the brides.  I modeled a beautiful spaghetti strapped suit in a bridal fashion show.  It was a hit with the encore brides.

The trend is color.  Many encore brides are choosing a color that is fashionable and makes them look good.  This is their special day so they want to
look their best.  If you are one that does not look good in white, wear a color that makes you feel good and look good.   However, it’s absolutely okay for the encore
bride to wear white.  Many wear white to signify a new beginning in their lives.
This is the start of a new life with a new husband.

Again, while white might not be your color, step out and choose a color that’s “you."  Start your new life being who you are.  Your family and friends will understand that as an adult you know what you want.  Your wedding can be just as elegant and classy in a pastel pink dress or even black.  Yes, brides are choosing black and it looks elegant.   Also, look at the time of the year, if you’re getting married in the winter feel free to go with a darker color if you choose.

Encore brides, congratulations on finding love again!  Celebrate by
being yourself, wear white if you choose. You can even wear a veil.  The
only restriction is the blusher veil that is reserved for the first time bride.
