Brush Fires Halt Traffic on I-95 Southbound Before Route 123

Traffic comes to a standstill.

Update, Jan. 3 at 2:55 p.m.: All operations have cleared on I-95 and traffic has resumed as usual.

Original post, Jan. 3 2:18 p.m.: 

Several brush fires have sprouted up on Interstate 95 at mile marker 158. Scanner traffic indicates that there are several brush fires near the southbound lanes. Traffic cameras show traffic slowing on I-95 before the Route 123 exit to Lake Ridge and Occoquan.  Traffic appears to come to a sudden halt over the Fairfax County line.

Crews have the right and center lane blocked at this time as they fight the fire. Drivers, proceed with caution as you come on the fire at speed.
