Former OWL VFD Chief Richard Arrington Dies at 55

"Chief Rick" was fire chief for the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department for two decades.

The Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department announced Wednesday past chief and life member Richard (Ricky) Arrington died Aug. 28. 

According to an obituary posted on Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home's website, Arrington lived in Dumfries and was 55 years old. 

In addition to serving as a chief with OWL VFD for two decades, Arrington was also statistician for Gar-field High School football teams for many years, according to his obituary.

Arrington joined OWL VFD in 1973. 

"Chief Rick is survived by his mother, Marguerite Arrington; his sister, Rita Adkins and husband Gary; and his brother, Robert Arrington, Jr. and wife Rita.  He is also survived by his nephew, Robert Arrington III; his niece, Amy Kelly and husband Mike, and Katelyn Adkins; his special family friend, Lucie Sellers; and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Arrington," reads an obituary from OWL VFD public relations specialist Rebecca Barnes.

OWL VFD shared Arrington's service arrangement on their Facebook page.  

A viewing will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 7 at . 

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m Sept. 8 at First Baptist Church of Woodbridge. Interment immediately following the ceremony will be at Fairfax Memorial Park, 9900 Braddock Rd. in Fairfax.
