On Saturday, April 5, 2014, Joe R. Gardner, Sr. passed away after a long battle with illness.
Joe was born and raised in Bennettsville, SC and was a resident of Marlboro County before moving to Northern Virginia in 1982. Joe Sr. was an Industrial Electrician and had the privilege of working with Mid Atlantic Coke, Gannett-USA Today and Stephenson Printing of Northern Virginia and had the opportunity to serve his country during the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his spouse Millisia Gardner, son, Joe Rance Gardner, Jr., daughter Caitlin Leigh Gardner of Manassas, VA and daughter, Stephanie P. Chapman of Ontario, Canada. Joe is also survived by his mother Josie Gardner, brothers, Larry and Gary, Uncle Jackie and sisters, Vicki and Holly of Marlboro County.
Family and friends will be received at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City VA 22193 on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 from 10am-12pm, with a life celebration service beginning at noon. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery.
The family request in lieu of flowers, donations to be made to the Cancer Society, Gentiva Hospice or to the Coles Volunteer Fire Department of Manassas, VA.
