Woodbridge Obituary: William David Yount

Yount, formerly of Woodbridge, will be interred at Quantico National Cemetery.

William David Yount, 84, of Harrisonburg, died Monday November 11, 2013 at Rockingham Memorial Hospital.  

     Formerly of Woodbridge, VA, Bill was born on June 10, 1929 in Burkeville, Virginia and was the son of the late Albert P. and Thelma Atkinson Yount.

     He loved golfing and fishing at Quantico Naval Base with family and friends.  Bill was a Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force for 20 years and went on to work for the U.S. Postal Service for 22 years.  He was a member of the Cokesbury United Methodist Church, in Woodbridge, American Legion Post 188, Lions Club International, and the Otterbein United Methodist Church.  

     On June 9, 1951, he married Mary Anita Spencer Yount, who survives.

     In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his son, William D. Yount, Jr. and wife, Cynthia of Port Republic; daughter, Debra A. Kuhn and husband, Michael of Virginia Beach; brother, Robert E. Yount of Greenville, SC; sister, Margaret Ann “Peggy” Yount of Harrisonburg; grandchildren, Timothy M. Kuhn and wife, Nicole, and their daughter Wren, of Richmond, VA, Michael W. Kuhn and wife, Sarah, and their children Owen, Michael and Kaylee, of Clemmons, NC, Angela M. Miller and husband, John, and their daughter, Dottie, of Radford, VA, Harry T. Kuhn of Virginia Beach, Alissa D. Irwin and husband, Michael, and their children, Jake and Maggie, of Staunton, VA, and Spencer B. Yount and wife Katie, of Harrisonburg.

     A funeral service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Ed Pruitt officiating.  A private interment will be held at Quantico National Cemetery at a later date.  The family will receive friends from 2-3pm, prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad; attn: donations, P.O.
