Shooting at Chick-Fil-A, One Dead, Suspect Arrested

Suspect was arrested and charged after yesterday's shooting.

Update Feb. 18: Prince William General District Court Records show that the Everettes were going through a divorce and that their last hearing was on Valentine's Day but was to be continued at a later date. Police also said that the couple had separated.

Chick-Fil-A is open and operating as usual despite yesterday's shooting.

2:55 p.m.: Police have identified the woman shot at Chick-Fil-A this morning as Alice Jenkins Everette, 48, of Dumfries. Daniel Lunie Everette, 52 of Burke, was arrested and charged with murder and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. The suspect was the estranged husband of the victim, police said.

12:56 p.m.: Medical examiners are on the scene, and a Mountcastle Funeral Home van has left the premises.

11:31 a.m.: Police are investigating two vehicles. A silver Chrysler 300 is next to cars in the drive-thru lane. Police are still on the scene investigating and the restaurant remains closed.

10:48 a.m.: Police said the shooting was a domestic incident and that the victim and the suspect were not married. Customers that were inside the restaurant at the time of the shooting are now being let out of the parking lot. Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok also said that there was an eye witness in the car behind the victim's. Police have a suspect in custody. More information will follow as police release it.

10:31 a.m.: Police said the woman was in the drive-through when she was shot, a suspect is being interviewed and this was an isolated incident.

10:21 a.m.: Police are interviewing a suspect relating to this shooting. It does appear that the shooting is domestic-related. No other suspects are being sought at this time.

10:11 a.m.: Police are investigating two vehicles; one still in the drive-through window lane. Customers that were inside at the time of the shooting appear to still be inside.

Update: 9:51 a.m. Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok confirmed that there was a shooting this morning at 8:45 a.m. at Chick-Fil-A. Perok also said one woman is dead in the shooting. Police continue a homicide investigation at this time.

Prince William County Police are on the scene at Chick-Fil-A at 2425 Prince William Parkway this morning conducting an investigation. It was heard on the county police scanner that a shooting occurred this morning just before 9 a.m. Patrons and baristas at Starbucks in the complex behind Chick-Fil-A said that it was a shooting; but police on the scene have not confirmed that a shooting took place.

Police have roped off the perimeter of the Chick-Fil-A parking lot and closed the turn lane into the shopping center off of Prince William Parkway. Patrons and employees appear to still be inside the Chick-Fil-A while police conduct their investigation.

Police cars are lined up on the Parkway while others are in the parking lot.

Chick-Fil-A is closed off for a police investigation but businesses across the street in the Parkway Crossing complex remain open for business.
