Police Arrest Suspect in Taxi Driver Robbery

Prince William County Police say local suspect responsible in Dec. 2010 incident.

Prince William County Police made an arrest in the alleged armed robbery of a taxi driver that remained a mystery for more than two years.

Randolfo Canaleso, 33, of Everett Avenue, is charged with robbery. He is being held without bond and will appear in court July 10.

Late on Dec. 2, 2010, police responded to a call of robbery in the 1400 block of Bayside Avenue. A taxi driver told police that he was called to the area for a fare, according to police spokesman Officer Jonathan Perok.

While waiting at the location, two unknown men approached his cab. One of the men reportedly showed a knife and demanded money. The two men fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

According to Perok, an investigation revealed that Canalesco is suspected of being the suspect displaying the knife during the robbery. He was arrested on Sunday.
