Body Identified as Missing Woodbridge Man

Kayaker Jeryl Dickerson Jr. had been missing since May 7 on the Potomac River.

A body recovered Monday morning has been identified as missing kayaker Jeryl Cordelle Dickerson Jr., according to an ABC7 report.

Dickerson, of Woodbridge, had been missing since May 7 from the waters of the Potomac River near Hague, according to the Maryland Natural Resources Police, which issued a missing person alert last week.

According to the NRP, Dickerson and another man were attempting to paddle five miles across the river from Cole’s Point near Hague to Tall Timbers Marina in St. Mary’s County.

Dickerson became fatigued and his the other man told him to wait near a navigational light while he paddled back to Virginia to borrow a neighbor’s powerboat.
