UPDATED: Bomb Threat at NVCC Woodbridge Campus Cleared

Campus is closed the rest of the day.

Update, 5:06 p.m.: Police said the Virginia State Police bomb dog found nothing and units will be clearing the scene.

Update, 2:57 p.m.: "VSP dog continues search, nothing found as of yet," said the department's Facebook page. 

Update, 1:37 p.m.: PRTC's Dumfries OmniLink buses are not serving stops along Neabsco Mills between Route 1 and Dale Boulevard.

Update, 1:12 p.m.: NOVA Alert users were sent a notification email at 12:31 p.m. that the Woodbridge campus was closed the rest of the day for "police activity." 

A reader forwarded her NOVA Alert email to us, but said she learned of the threat on the Police department's Facebook page before she was notified by NVCC.

Update, 12:50 p.m.: At a little before noon today, a school employee at received a bomb threat on the school telephone line.

"The bomb was reported to be in the lake area near the main school building," police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.

Police responded at 11:45 a.m. and have been investigating since that time. At this point, the entire campus has been evacuated of all students, teachers, and staff. A Virginia State Police bomb dog is checking the school and nearby areas.

The campus is closed, but no streets are closed at this time. Freedom High School remains unaffected and open.

Cruisers are stationed at the construction and main entrances of the NVCC campus. Neabsco Mills Road remains open despite police activity. On its website, NVCC said the Woodbridge campus would be closed Tuesday, May 8, because of police activity. 

Update, 12:29 p.m.: "The entire campus has been evacuated and remains closed to the public," the PWC Police Department Facebook page reports. "Freedom High School is not being affected at this time."

Original story: Police are investigating a bomb threat at the Woodbridge campus of Northern Virginia Community College, according to the Prince William County Police Department Facebook page.

The building is currently being evacuated.
