Crime Solvers: Police Trying to Identify Suspect Who Assaulted Woodbridge Woman

Prince William County Police are asking for the public's help in information that might lead to an arrest.

Prince William County Police are trying to identify the suspect in a burglary and sexual assault that happened in Woodbridge on Aug. 28, and are asking for the public's help in information that might lead to an arrest, according to police spokesperson Jonathan Perok.

Police initially responded to River Bend Way in Woodbridge at 9:59 a.m. on Aug. 28 for the report of an assault in progress.

"The victim, a 38-year-old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she was sleeping in her bedroom when she awoke to an unknown man inside her bedroom," Perok said. "During the encounter, the man exposed himself to the victim before sexually assaulting her. Following the altercation, the man fled the residence, possibly on foot. The investigation revealed that the suspect had entered the residence through an unsecured window. At the time of the incident, the suspect was covering the bottom half of his face with a towel."

The suspect is described as a black man between 25 and 30 years old, between 6-foot-0 and 6-foot-5, of a thin build with short hair. The suspect was described as wearing a black tank top, black shorts, red and white shoes, and a small, tan towel. See the E-Fit sketch above.
