Day Care Drug Scare: Owner's Husband Facing FBI Charges

Man facing charge of dealing oxycodone 'in and near' facility.

FBI agents searched the Little Angels Daycare on Wednesday as the owner's husband faced drug charges and other allegations, according to media reports.

Ralph Caldwell, 38, was charged with conspiracy to distribute oxycodone. Caldwell allegedly sold the drug to a police informant near the day care center at the Dumfries Shopping Plaza, according to The Washington Post.

An affidavit obtained by the Post notes the informant told investigators that Caldwell had sold drugs — including liquid codeine and Roxicodone — “in and near” the day care for three years.

An ABC7 report notes the informant, referred to as "C-1," also claims to have "observed Caldwell operating a Little Angels Daycare van (with children seated inside the van) while Caldwell was drinking a pineapple soda that was purple in color, which C-1 believed to be Codeine."

ABC7 spoke with a neighboring business owner who was surprised by the news.
"I see them everyday, but I didn't really know something like that was going on," said Bamba Sekou.
