Fire Spotted by Neighbors, Three Escape Home

$50,000 in damage, according to Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue.

On Sunday, May 18th at approximately 7:30 p.m., fire and rescue units were dispatched to a structure fire in a single family home located in the 14700 block of Arkansas Street in Woodbridge.  

Upon arrival, fire and rescue units observed smoke showing from the roof of the home. Firefighters discovered fire in the wall; initiated suppression operations and extinguished the fire. Firefighters checked for extension; no further extension was found.  

Residents, who were home at the time of the fire, were alerted by a neighbor that smoke was coming from the roof. Two adults and 1 child were displaced by the fire.  No injuries were reported.  

A Building Inspector was called to the scene to assess the residence and posted the structure unsafe.  

According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, preliminary damages are estimated at $50,000. The fire was discovered in the wall; the cause is undetermined.
