Fugitive of the Week: Suspect Escapes After Wild Police Chase

Prince William County Police said that Christopher Blakeney, of Triangle, nearly ran over two officers who tried to arrest him, and hit an occupied car.

The suspect in a February assault case led police on a wild car chase Friday morning, nearly hitting two police officers and crashing into an occupied vehicle, Prince William County Police said.

Christopher Blakeney, 29, of Bellau Woods Drive in Triangle, is now wanted on multiple charges, including attempted malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer, according to police.

Prince William County officers and members of the U.S. Marshals’ Fugitive Task Force were trying to serve warrants on Blakeney at 8:35 a.m., when they saw him getting into a car. At that point, Blakeney had to stop behind other cars which were waiting to exit an apartment complex onto Fuller Heights Road. As officers approached his car and ordered him to surrender, Blakeney put the car in reverse and struck an occupied vehicle behind him, police said.

Then, Blakeney put the vehicle in drive and drove towards one of the officers. The officer had to jump out of the way to avoid being struck, said Officer Jonathan Perok, a spokesman for the police department.

Blakeney almost struck a second officer as he was trying to escape, Perok said. In the process, he struck a cruiser, then drove down concrete steps next to one of the apartment buildings. Then, he stopped and fled on foot.

Police established a perimeter around the area, then dispatched a K-9 and a helicopter to search for Blakeney. Despite these measures, they were unable to find him.

No one was hurt during the chase. Blakeney is also wanted on charges of attempted assault and battery of a law enforcement officer, felony hit and run, felony eluding, destruction of property and reckless driving.

Police were originally searching for Blakeney because they believe he assaulted another man with a beer bottle at Water's Edge in Woodbridge.

Police ask anyone with information on Blakeney's whereabouts to call Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700 or 1-866-411-TIPS.
