House Fire on Averet Street Caused by Arson

Police and fire departments are still looking for the person who set fire to a home Monday morning.

Fire and rescue units responded to the 1700 block of Averet Street in Woodbridge for a fire involving an occupied single-family dwelling just after 1 a.m. on Monday morning. 

When units arrived, they found a fire on the front porch of the residence that had been contained by the owner with a garden hose.

Damage was estimated at $20,000 and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was investigated by the fire marshal who determined the fire was intentionally set.  Prince William County Police assisted with the investigation.
