Lorton Man Arrested After Touching Girl at Potomac Mills

According to the Virginia State Police, suspect is a registered sex offender.

A Lorton man has been arrested and charged with assault and battery after he allegedly rubbed up against an 11-year-old girl Thursday at Potomac Mills Mall.

Prince William County Police said that John Walter Niehaus, 66 of 8912 Ox Rd. in Lorton, was following the girl around the mall and rubbed against her while she was in one of the stores in the mall.

Niehaus’ court date is unavailable and he is being held without bond.

According to the Virginia State Police’s sex offender website, Niehaus has two sexual offenses, one aggravated sexual battery charge from March 2002 and one sexual battery charge from October 1998.

The website also stated that Neihaus is on probation/parole and that his sexual offender registration status was renewed on Feb. 4, 2011.
