Man, 29, Charged with Assaulting a Woman in Her Home

A 29-year-old man is accused of assaulting a woman after forcing his way into her home, according to police.

Efrain Vega Romero, who has no fixed address, was charged with burglary, assault and battery, and preventing the summoning of law enforcement. He turned himself into police Monday, according to the Prince William County Police Department.

On 10:45 p.m. Sunday, authorities were called to a home on the 13900 block of Jefferson Davis Highway to investigate a burglary. The victim, a 28-year-old woman, told police that Romero, an acquaintance, had forced his way into her home and assaulted her. She tried to call police, at which point, Romero grabbed her phone, police report.

After the assault, Romero fled the home, police report. He turned himself into to police on Monday.
