Man Charged With Robbery and Malicious Wounding in Lake Ridge

The victim, a Lake Ridge resident, told police that the accused threatened him with a knife.

Oscar Cortez-Cordova, of no fixed address, has been charged with robbery and malicious wounding after a Lake Ridge man reported on July 5 that the accused approached him from behind on a foot path in the area of Old Bridge Road and Hedges Run Drive, pulled out a knife, and yelled at him, police spokesperson Jonathan Perok said.

The victim got away from his reported attacker by running back to his house, Perok said. The victim told police that the accused was one of two men that had approached him. When police responded to the scene at 8:50 p.m., they were able to find the Cortez-Cordova nearby. The second suspect was not found. The victim could not describe the second suspect. No one was injured.

Cortez-Cordova was also charged with being drunk in public. His court date is Aug. 6. He is being held without bond.
