Man Dies in Motorcycle Wreck in Dumfries

A motorcycle rider died in a 3-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon, according to Prince William County Police.

Stephen Michael Croft, 26, of Dumfries, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Officers responded to the scene at 12:50 p.m. July 4 near the 17900 block of Joplin Road in Dumfries.

According to police, two motorcyclists were heading eastbound on Joplin when Croft reportedly passed the other vehicle in an oncoming lane.

He reportedly collided with a car heading in the opposite direction. The driver of the car and the rider of the second motorcycle received minor injuries, according to police.
